Parament Chamber

Exhibited in the Parament Chamber, which was redesigned in 2023, are ecclesiastical textiles that were originally the property of the Mainz electoral archbishops and the Mainz cathedral treasury. The fine materials are decorated with precious embroidery made of gold, silver and silk and testify to the wealth and elevated position of the Mainz archbishops. Also on display is liturgical equipment used during Mass in the Aschaffenburg Palace Chapel.

The princes’ gallery, from which there is a view into the palace chapel, is part of the Parament Chamber. The Elector and Archbishop of Mainz once attended Mass from here. Two coat-of-arms panels dating from the time of Johannisburg Palace’s construction bear witness to its patron, Johann Schweikard von Kronberg.
