Disabled parking

 

Johannisburg Palace and Pompeiianum

There is no parking directly at the houses; please use the public car parks/ parking garages. The nearest marked disabled parking space is opposite St Elisabeth's Church on Kapuzinerplatz.

Schönbusch Palace

"Kleine Schönbuschallee" car park (350 parking spaces); two disabled parking spaces on the partially asphalted part of the car park east of the street. Distance from the car park to Schönbusch Palace (via Kleine Schönbuschallee) approx. 850 m; slight inclines on the path (surface: paved gravel, cobbles, asphalt).

 

Disabled toilets

  • Johannisburg Palace: Barrier-free WC on the ground floor (door width: 91 cm)

  • Pompeiianum: No disabled toilet available; visitor WCs at the entrance (door width: 65 cm)

  • Schönbusch Park: Barrier-free WC near the beer garden (accessible with Euro key)

Access via a step (height approx. 15 cm); if required, a mobile ramp can be installed by the museum staff (telephone registration recommended on +49 6021 218012). The double-leaf door has a clear width of 157 cm when both leaves are open.

  • Ground floor largely barrier-free; upper floor only accessible via stairs

  • Doors at least 80 cm wide

  • Level, non-slip flooring

Palace Gardens

  • Western part of the park (surrounding area of the Pompejanum to the Breakfast Temple): Barrier-free access via gates on Pompejanumstraße and Ziegelbergstraße.

  • Eastern part of the park (surroundings of Johannisburg Palace): No direct barrier-free access from the palace/ palace square; barrier-free access via gate at the corner of Schloßberg/ Ridingerstraße

  • No barrier-free passage (stairs) between western and eastern garden sections

  • Paths mostly easily accessible by wheelchair (slight inclines); some areas only accessible via steep paths (over 6% incline) and steps

  • Path surface mostly paved gravel

  • Seats available

  • With a few exceptions, well passable with few gradients; individual areas (e.g. mountain with observation tower; railway crossing between northern and southern part of the park) only accessible via steep paths (over 6% gradient) and steps.

  • Visitors' centre barrier-free accessible

  • The park buildings (Temple of Friendship, Philosopher's House etc.) can only be visited from the outside.

  • Observation tower: access and viewing only possible as part of special guided tours; platform only accessible via steps; access to the tower not barrier-free
